Privacy Policy
Last updated October 10, 2026
Make Trending (“we”, “us”) runs maketrending.com, where you turn a photo into a short AI video. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us process it, and when we delete it. Questions: contact@maketrending.com.
The short version
- Your photo is used only to check it and make your video. We delete it once your video is saved.
- Your videos are deleted after 7 days.
- We don’t use your photos or videos to train AI models, and we don’t sell your data or show ads.
- You can delete your account and everything in it at any time from your Account page.
What we collect
- Your Google sign-in details. You sign in with Google. Google shares your name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID with us. We use your email address to tell you when a video is ready or didn’t work, and for purchases; we don’t send marketing emails.
- Your confirmations. The date you confirmed you’re 18 or older, and the date you agreed to the photo and face-data statements before each video.
- Your photos. The photo you upload for a video (JPG, PNG or WebP).
- Your videos and their details. The videos we make for you, which trend you chose, and whether each video worked.
- Reports. If you report a video, the reason, the details you write, and your email address if you give it.
- Technical logs. Our hosting provider records standard server logs (such as IP address, browser and pages requested) to run and secure the site.
Face data
Your photo shows your face, so we treat it with extra care.
- Before a video is made, we ask for your separate agreement to process your photo, including your face.
- We check each photo automatically with Amazon Rekognition: it finds faces and estimates their age (to block anyone who may be under 18), checks for sexual, violent or hateful content, and checks whether the photo shows a well-known person. This happens once, when you start a video.
- We don’t create or keep face measurements or face templates. We keep only whether the photo passed and, if it didn’t, the reason. A photo that doesn’t pass is deleted straight away.
- The video model uses your photo to make your video. That is its only use.
- We never sell, lease, trade or otherwise profit from your face data. Any face data is destroyed as soon as the check and your video are done, and in every case on the schedule below (within 2 days for photos), well within the 3 years some laws allow.
How long we keep things
- Photos: deleted from our storage as soon as your finished video is saved. If no video is saved, our daily clean-up deletes the photo once it’s more than 24 hours old, so within 2 days at most.
- Videos: deleted 7 days after they’re made. Download any you want to keep.
- Reported videos: if a video has been reported, we keep it and its photo until we’ve reviewed the report, then delete them on the normal schedule or remove them.
- Your account: kept until you delete it. Deleting it removes your photos, videos and video history from our systems straight away. Copies held by fal.ai and our hosting logs are deleted on their own schedules (see below).
- After you delete your account: we keep only a one-way fingerprint of your email address (it can’t be turned back into the address) and how many free videos you used, so free videos can’t be claimed again by signing up again.
- Reports: kept as long as we need them to handle the report and keep a record of what we did.
- Server logs: kept for a limited time by our hosting provider.
- Our video provider: fal.ai, which runs the video models, is told not to keep a record of each request (the link to your photo and the prompt) and to delete the finished video after 7 days.
Who processes your data
We use these service providers, only to run the site:
- Google: sign-in.
- Supabase: accounts, database and file storage.
- Vercel: website hosting.
- Amazon Web Services (Rekognition): photo checks. We’ve opted out of AWS using our content to improve its services.
- fal.ai: makes the videos.
- Stripe (once paid packs launch): payments. Stripe handles your card details; we never see your full card number.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We may disclose it if the law requires us to, to protect people from harm, or as part of a sale or reorganisation of our business (in which case this policy keeps applying to it).
Why we’re allowed to use it
Where laws such as the GDPR apply, we rely on:
- Your consent for your photo and face data. You can withdraw it by deleting your videos or account.
- Our agreement with you (the Terms) to run your account and make your videos.
- Legitimate interests in keeping the site safe, preventing abuse and handling reports.
- Legal obligations, for example responding to valid legal requests and keeping payment records.
Where your data is processed
Make Trending is based in the United States, and our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. If you use the site from elsewhere, your data may be transferred to those countries, and our providers protect it under their own data-protection terms.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in. We don’t use advertising or analytics cookies. We count page visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn’t identify you: it records the page (with any video id and query removed), the referring site, country, device type and browser, and doesn’t record your session.
Your choices and rights
- Delete: delete your account and all its photos and videos from your Account page.
- Access or correct: email contact@maketrending.com for a copy of your data or to correct it.
- Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU), you may have further rights, such as to object to processing, or to complain to your local data-protection authority. Email us and we’ll respond within the time the law requires. We won’t treat you differently for using these rights.
Under 18s
Make Trending is only for people 18 and older. We block photos that appear to show someone under 18. If you think a child’s data is on our site, report it or email contact@maketrending.com and we’ll delete it.
Security
Photos and videos are kept in private storage that only your account can read, and the site shows them to you through private links. No method of storage is perfectly secure, but we limit what we keep and delete it on the schedule above.
Changes
If we change this policy we’ll update the date above, and tell you on the site before a significant change takes effect.
